Rhinoceros Iguana
Cyclura cornuta cornuta
Physical Characteristics
- These large, heavy bodied lizards are dusky-grey or olive-green with dark cross bands
that are often barely visible. There are three horny bumps on the snout which are more
pronounced in males.

- length: 2 feet (snout to vent)

- Wild: plant and animal material
Behavior
- Diurnal (active during the day)
- Bask in the sun
- Reproduction
- breeding season: April
- female digs a nest cavity in the sand and lays as many as 16 eggs
Environmental/Global
- Habitat: dry country with thorn bushes and thickets of cactus
- Distribution: Lesser Antillean island of Haiti
- Numbers: no estimates of wild populations available
- Status: CITES Appendix I
