If you have kids in grades 6–12, we have activities and learning adventures designed especially for them. Big kids can dig a little deeper into the wonders of animals and nature. No experience required, just a willingness to roll up your sleeves and a desire to have tons of fun! Classes meet in the Cargill Learning Center unless otherwise noted. Space is limited; therefore pre-registration is required. Please contact Cargill Learning Center to reserve your place. Classes take place rain or shine. Please remember, for everyone's safety and enjoyment all class participants must meet age requirements - no older or younger siblings allowed, including infants. Activities We have animal related activities that extend your adventure beyond your regular Zoo visit and allow your kids to explore and learn on their own. Check out the adventure backpacks during your next trip to the Zoo. Learning Programs No video games or TV, just really amazing hands-on learning. Are you age 14-20 and interested in animal sciences? Our new Explorer Post might be just for you. We will be learning about careers in zoos, daily lives of keepers, conservation programs and so much more. Come meet new people and enjoy hands-on, educational onsite learning. Teens interested in animals will love this program. We will be getting close to some amazing residents of the Zoo and experiencing what it is like to care for them, including but not limited to diet prep, exhibit cleaning, and learning about their adaptations. The fee of $10 for members / $12 for nonmembers covers one student. We will be meeting every other month on the third Thursday. Classes run from 3:30 - 4:45 p.m. Please wear closed-toe shoes. Registration is now open for all classes through March.
