When to Schedule
Scout Saturdays
Join us at the Zoo
for a wild and exciting time working toward a
badge! All programs include a presentation
facilitated by a Sedgwick County Zoo educator, as
well as fun in-Zoo activities to do on your own!
The in-Zoo
portion may be done before or after your program.
The cost is $1.00 per scout for Brownies, Wolves
and Bears and $2.00 per scout for Juniors and
Webelos plus a $4.00 Zoo admission for
all (PAID WHEN YOU ENTER THE ZOO).
No older or
younger siblings will be allowed to enter the
program; there will be no exceptions.
Phone pre-registration is required; please call
266-8213 Monday-Friday.
Payments must be delivered or postmarked no
later than seven days after pre-registration.
Payment for the programs will not be accepted at the
door. We reserve the right to cancel any
pre-registration or to charge a $2 late fee to
individuals whose registration forms are not
received on time. If a refund is needed, contact
the education department by 4:00 PM the day prior to
the scheduled class. After contact, we will be
happy to refund a maximum of 75% of the original
program fee.

Boy Scout Programs

CUB SCOUTS
March 3, 10:00 am
Programs will focus on animal habitats and
the different ways animals interact with their
environment. They will also learn about an extinct
animal and meet an animal up close. There will be a time
for questions about Zoo careers. During the Zoo visit
the boys will move like animals, play sound charades and
complete a scavenger hunt. The badge work will cover 1
requirement for the Wolf Cubs and 3 requirements for the
Bear Cubs. Each leader will receive plans for making
a milk jug bird feeder to help complete a second
requirement for the Wolves and the 4th
requirement for the Bears. The bird feeder must be made
on your own.

WEBELOS NATURALIST BADGE
(60
Minutes)
March 3, 11:00 am
Webelos will learn about adaptations
animals have for survival and have the opportunity to
meet an animal up close. Scouts will also learn about
being a good naturalist. During the Zoo visit they will
complete a Naturalist Zoo Activities sheet. The badge
work will complete all badge requirements. |

BROWNIE
ANIMAL TRY-IT (30 minutes)
March 10, 9:00 am
Animals are an important part of our lives, and
together we will explore the fascinating world of
animals both wild and domestic! We will explore how
to best care for a pet, as well as how to respect
wild animals. Requirements met during the program
are 1, 2 and 3; requirements 4 and 5 are met by
completing the in- Zoo worksheet.

JUNIOR
WILDLIFE BADGE (60 minutes)
March 10, 10:00 am
Learning about wildlife is the first step to
becoming a good steward. Together with the Zoo
educator your troop will have a wildlife symbols
party, create a naturalist journal, race to be the
first to complete a creature feature and learn about
a plant and animal that we should all try to avoid!
Requirements met during the program are 1,2,3,4 and
5; requirement number 10 will be met by completing
the in-Zoo worksheet.

JUNIOR PLANTS AND ANIMAL
BADGE (60 minutes)
March 10, 11:30 am
Without plants and animals where would we be?
Probably without shelter, food, clothes, or even
cars!Together with the Zoo educator your troop will
create a garden gift, try a new and exotic food,
create a work of art from seed and even learn that
some plants and animals can be real pests!
Requirements met during this program are 2, 5, 6, 7
and 9; requirement number 10 will be met by
completing the in-Zoo worksheet.
