Adventure Backpacks

Exploring the Zoo has never been so exciting! We have packs with everything you need to complete the hands on inquiry based investigations. Activities lead students through the North American Prairie exhibit or the Pride of the Plains exhibit.

Pick Your Pack

Packs are designed for up to six students (one chaperone per group is required) and are available for Kindergarten, grades 1-2, grades 3-4 and grades 5-6. All activities are aligned to current Kansas State Science Standards. Use of these packs is free, photo identification of booking teacher or responsible adult is required. Groups who lose or misuse equipment will be billed for replacement items. Packs can be checked out every day from the Cargill Learning Center by appointment made no less than two weeks in advance.

North American Adventure Backpacks include:
Student Pack Includes:

  • Inquiry based student activity packet
  • Measurement and Observation Tools
  • Backpack for easy carrying
  • Chaperone packet with applicable answers and fun facts to share with students about the animals encounter

Optional Teacher Pack Includes:

  • Biofacts (fur, bones, feather, etc) of North American animals and fact sheets for each biofact to enrich student experience
  • Track rubbing plates
  • A small rolling suitcase for ease of carrying

Pride of the Plains Adventure Packs
Student Pack Includes:

  • Inquiry based student activity packet
  • Chaperone packet with applicable answers and fun facts to share with students about the animals encounter

More Free Stuff
Student activity packets, chaperone packets and teacher pack information are available to download in the box on the right. Please note that you may download and print activities to bring with you to the Zoo or you may use the dry erase packs that will be made available to you at your prearranged check out.
